I've used the free VIN service before. What changed?
VIN lookups are now paid only. The full VIN costs £5.99, but the service has changed to a while-you-wait workflow. You first check and confirm the vehicle for free, then pay only when you know we have identified the right vehicle.
How much does the VIN lookup cost?
The full VIN lookup costs £5.99 as a one-off payment. There is no free VIN service and no subscription.
Do I pay before I know whether you found the right vehicle?
No. Enter the registration first and we'll show the vehicle details we can identify, including the year. You confirm that it is the vehicle you want before continuing to payment.
How does payment work?
Once you confirm the vehicle, you'll be redirected to Stripe to make the £5.99 payment securely. After Stripe confirms the payment, we continue with the full VIN lookup.
How quickly will I get the VIN?
The service is designed as a “while you wait” lookup. Once payment is confirmed, we process the request and show the VIN on the result page when it is ready. The lookup can take several minutes.
What is a VIN?
A Vehicle Identification Number is a unique identifier assigned to a vehicle. Modern VINs normally contain 17 characters and are used to identify the vehicle and its manufacturing details.
What does a VIN look like?

How do I find the chassis number from the registration?

Where can I find the VIN on the vehicle?

Where is the VIN on a V5C logbook?
The VIN appears in the vehicle details section of the V5C. The VIN on the vehicle should correspond with the VIN shown on the document.
Are VIN and chassis number the same thing?
They are commonly used to mean the same vehicle identifier. The VIN is the standardised identification number associated with the vehicle chassis.
